Installing Sights w/ MGW Tool

Yay, Colt MGW tool just arrived.
I just have to wait for my buddy's rear sight next week.Comment

I have used the bad boy for my Glock, 2 XD's, and M&P Shield.
There is a little fiddle factor, but it works great. For the XD's I had to use my cordless Makita impact driver to remove and place the new sights because even with a good vice it would have been difficult if not nearly impossible to counter the torque required to move those stubborn sights. I could have filed the dovetails to make install easier, but didn't care to take the time.

Thanks for that video. I bought that tool when I was planning on sight upgrades on my 1911. Forgot I had the darn thing - might as well give it a try on my Glock!Slog through these two videos from Dave Dawson of Dawson Precision Sights
Dave Dawson punching a rear sight in and out on a Glock.
Front Sight on a 1911
At the 18:50 point on the 1911 front sight install he shows a method of using a bench vise with aluminum bar stock taped to the sides for slide protection can also be used as a fixed reference point to determine position.
You just need to go from a fixed reference point (the bar stock in this instance) and measure to the same point on the sight. For example make the distance from the bar stock to the edge of the rear sight the same on both sides of the slide, you've got it centered.Jesus Saves!Comment
