just pulled the trigger on my first handgun

After trying to decide between several guns (narrowed it down to either a cz75 p01 or a ruger gp100, then between a gp100 6" and match champion), I finally bought this bad boy:

Having held both the rubber grip 6" and the MC in my hand, the wood grip just felt more natural. I may get a set of hogue grips down the line if I feel it's necessary though.

Congratulations! Great choice IMO. Sadly, the novelty of those grips wore off as soon as I started firing off some 158g .357 magnum. Very uncomfortable for me towards the top of my palm. The wood doesn't give at all and it isn't all that ergonomic (for me anyway). At the recommendation of another calgunner I picked up some altamont grips, I have yet to shoot them but I think they will work much better.

The good new is, you have options if you don't end up loving them!

^^^Excellent choice for a first gun!

Do not ever sell it. You can own this gun your whole life and pass it off to someone in the next generation.

BTW The CZ would have been a great choice as well. Don't worry, you will want another one right away.

I bought my first handgun in January and I now have 6...

I'm still debating how to tell the wife. She was OK with long guns, but drew the line at handguns a while back. I figure if I have it for a few years before she finds out, she'll realize she had nothing to worry about in the first place...

Just take her shooting. She'll enjoy it as well.

                  BTW nice choice of pistol.

+A bunch, for what everybody else already said!

Wood stocks can definitely be well-contoured things of beauty, but they can be painful with heavy loads. If you're going to stick with .38 spl +P level stuff for HD, which a lot of people do with their .357s, they should be fine.

                        Thanks for the comments people!

Does anyone know if there's a difference between the hogue tamer grip, and the grip that comes on the standard GP100's? I'm reading a bit on amazon, and some people say that the tamers come with a softer patch where the webbing of the thumb is, while the OEM hogue grip doesn't.
