    Rami weirdness

So I went to the range the other day. Needed to work some more on my Left hand accuracy.

    All's well at this point.

I load the magazine with ten target rounds. It rattles. ???

lock and load send three down range and it locks back in the open position. Hmmm. I look and sure enough there are still rounds in the mag. Reset it and go again. Locks back in one. Then nothing for 6 more rounds and then again with a different mag.

    Hmmm

Had the gun tech, and a friend that is very good with weapons, look at it... The weapons guy just shrugged his shoulders. My friend looked at it and thought about it and then suggested I send it back to the company for analysis.

    What are your thoughts?

Rounds moving in the mag sound about normal.

The slide locking back, are you sure your grip isn't causing one of you fingers to push the slide stop up a bit while firing? Hold your gun and think about it.

    Hope it helps.

Slides don't lock back on their own, so either something in the magazine is hitting it, you are hitting it, or least likely the spring is too weak and recoil is knocking it up. You can very easily diagnose this yourself, then come back here to find out what to do next.

Do you shoot with your weak hand often?

Same thing happens with me, but I have had a broken left wrist that cracks and pops all the time. Hurts to shoot lefty, but every few rounds will lock the gun up like it's empty or it'll stove pipe. More of an operator error

The next thing that I am thinking of is ammo. Are there any brands that I should stay away from?

                Federal 115 grain target
                Aguila 117 grain hollowpoint
Federal 115 grain jacketed hollow point
                Winchester 147 grain target

                Any others I should try?

Actually he does. He suggested, after trying different ammo types, to send the mags back to the manufacturer for their analysis.

You could have bullets bumping the slide stop as they come up to feed. They would be ones on the left as the rounds come up in the mag. I have had to file off a little the slide stop because of this. Different profile bullets can make a difference. If you take your slide off install the slide stop in the frame. Put a loaded mag in the frame. You be able to see how close the rounds come. If you do file on the stop make sure you don't take off to much or your mag follower will miss and not make the slide lock back when the mag is empty.

Here's a post about modifying a slide stop from the CZ forum.

I called CZ this morning. I am sending the pistol back at their request.

Please let us know what you find out when they reply. I've been eyeballing the Rami for a while and like to hear the good and bad on future purchases.

Dumb question: If you go back to your right hand does the problem go away?
