Thanks, I had a friend reefer to it as a 'Dovetail' and I had just never heard that and wanted a little clarification.

When talking about a firearm, a dovetail is a slot with the side walls angled inward, typically cut into the barrel or slide, for mounting front or rear sights.

I'm pretty sure that is properly referred to as the "tang"; but beavertail is just as meaningful to many of us.

Was the M1911 the first model pistol to utilize that feature?
