I don't know the value but I will say this, if I ever did pick up a Python it would be one in this condition not a pristine show piece. Nothing wrong with collecting, but personally I like to have nice things then beat them up and use em up.

That's what excited me with this one. It's in great condition (I realize not perfect) and I get to shoot her. I regularly lay in bed holding her. I should give her a name.

I have to differ with you, the stocks look nowhere near brand new-chipped finish, chipped wood at the screw and we don't see a photo of the butt which is usually the area of most destruction. Your estimated value isn't far off in today's market, probably $200 to $250 would be more reasonable.
Just about a year and a half ago I bought an absolutely flawless NOS set of walnuts for $400. Took off the factory supplied black rubber Pachmayrs and never looked back.
OP, the good news is that there is a fellow who goes by the handle of "swamprat" (I believe he's in Texas)over on coltforum.com. He performs restoration miracles on Python stocks. One of his best resurrections that I have seen were before and after photos of a set of Python walnuts that someone earlier on took a rasp to the checkering and all that was left was a very smooth and faint diamond pattern impression. swamprat carefully cut all of the surrounding wood back just deep enough to re-emerge and re-cut the sharp checkering then refinished to Colt's specs!
Getting your stocks back to original factory condition would be a walk in the park for swamprat.

You are correct, I only look at the first picture, I thought it was brand new. Should have look at all the pictures.

I said 1500.00 but will retract that. I sold this shooter about a month ago for 2000.00 it could have brought more but the hammer and trigger had been jeweled.So I have to say yours would bring 1800.00 to 2000.00 and most likely more if they just got to have it........

Now that's a fine looking set of Gen ll walnut stocks. Too bad about the jeweling but in a morbid way, I sort of liked it for a few minutes. I do see Python triggers and hammers pop up for sale every now and then.
You got some good cash and the buyer got a good deal.
