    UZI build, anyone do one?

I am about to do a McKay UZI build and am wondering if anyone has experience with this. I am doing a build on a receiver flat with the weld kit. I need to weld up the receiver and then fit the parts kit. Also anyone make a bullet button for the UZI currently? I can't find one in stock anywhere.

i was under the impression you didnt need a bullet button because the mag is in the pistol grip. or is that just on a pistol build?can someone confirm this?

It has a barrel shroud so it does need one unless you remove it. I am building a pistol, but I thought this forum makes more sense

You can't build a pistol on that receiver. If it was not dros'ed as pistol. You couldn't have done it as an SSE because it's a bare receiver.

The receiver I bought is not a firearms and does not have the trunnion or anything else welded on it. It is not DROSed as anything at the moment.

A bent flat that has the holes in it is considered a complete receiver. Is what you bought the same as the picture and was pre bent?

Nope, I bent it myself. I bought it as a flat.

Then you are good to go to make a pistol and no BB. Did you make a jig for the bends?

McKay also makes a flat too, which adds to the confusion.

I have populated a bare Group Industries shell and it would be far easier to use the bent replacement section to reweld an Izzy receiver.

Could have avoided a lot of confusion if you had said that in the first place instead of...

Good point, I did not think about all the options when I put up the OP, edited.

So does the handguard not count as a barrel shroud?

I did a re-weld with a center section a while back. Super easy build. I think you're in for a bit more work but should still be simple if you can weld. I made my own mag lock.

As far as I know the jury is still out on the HG being a shroud. It's up to CAL DOJ to make that call and good luck getting a straight answer out of them.

Thanks for the help so far, If you do a re-weld did you replace the trunion with a semi one?
