    Picked up my CZ SP01

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I just field striped it to clean out the factory gunk. What I did find interesting is the cheap flimsy plastic guide rod was completely bent. I'm sure it works fine, but you'd think you'd get something a little nicer after paying $700 to get. I knew the fit and finish on CZs leave something to be desired, but this just made me laugh!

Actually there plastic guide rods are very durable. I have over 800 rds on my SP01 with the plastic rod and zero problem. No need to worry. They are battle tested, if not CZ wouldn't put them in.

I'm not worried about it not working or breaking. I just thought that if I drop 3/4 of $1k, I wouldn't be seeing bent plastic guide rods. Just surprised me, is all

The bend in the plastic guide rod is a non issue. You can replace it with a stainless steel one for the extra weight up front.

I think I read somewhere that the metal guide is not a good idea due to abnormal wear in that area. Can anyone confirm?

There is a reason CZ uses a rigid polymer for their guide rods. At least it bends to the left. You know what they say about those right benders.

How about a picture of the pistol .

Stainless steel guide rods have been known to cause some galling in the aluminum CZ frames. Since the SP01 has a steel frame, it is a non issue.

I run Steel guide rods on all of my CZ's.

At this time, I have no plans on changing the guide rod. I'll likely throw in a race hammer and a pre-b sear, firing pin block removal. I'm debating on switching it over to SAO. If I do that, I'll switch up to a flat trigger. But honestly, the stock trigger feels pretty darn good!

And for Tok36, the ubiquitous photo of it. For now, plain Jane.

Actually the inside of the slide is pretty good. My 75BSA on the other hand, looks like the guy coating the slide came to work on a terrible hangover.

You can get a sear cage spacer from CGW for a $1.50 and you can use your stock sear. Or use the sear race hammer combo.

The last thing a SP-01 needs 'up front' is more weight.

I've seen some aluminum guide rods for sale. I wonder if that might be a viable solution to the galling issue, for those that prefer metal? (I have a P-01 in jail)
