    1 in 30 rule

Tried searching but couldn't find anything. Anyway, do consignment purchases count toward the 1 in 30 rule? Thanks in advance

It'd be better to ask this in the "How CA Laws Apply to Me" part of the forum, but as far as I know (based on my experience earlier this year) consignment purchases are treated as PPTs, and don't count as part of the 1 in 30.

AFAIK, the 1-30 rule only applies to guns purchased new from a dealer.

Make sure you discuss it with the prospective FFL before you agree to a purchase.

          Good luck.

Only in some places /LA for example/ consignment are counted as 1 in 30, most other places you are GTG.

it even applies to used guns purchased from a dealer. I can't buy 2 used LEO-trade-in Glock 17's at the same time.

new/used does not matter for the 1-in-30. those words are never used in the law.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I believe thats correct but you do have to pay sales tax on it since it is in the possession of the FFL and has been consigned to him.

To the best of my understanding:

Consignment guns are handled the same as a ppt, so the one in thirty days does not apply.

All dealer owned guns, new or used, are limited to one in thirty days.

All used guns, dealer or consignment, must be in the store for thirty days before delivery.

I hate the stupid 30 day thing. Background check, OK I get that. 10 days, I don't get that one but it doesn't prevent me from buying. This F-ing 30 day thing, well it really does slow my buying down. I would much rather see a limit of 12 a year than 1 every 30 days. Would make it easier to buy when I find what I'm looking for (though my ffl is cool about storing a HG if I find one).
