CZ P01 vs M&P9c for small hands

I'm trying to determine which gun has a "slimmer grip", the CZ P01 with thin aluminum grips or the M&P9c with small backstrap. I've heard both of these are fairly thin for doublestacks. Anyone here fired/held both and know which is slimmer?

GF's has small hands and can reach the trigger okay but has issue getting the rest of the fingers far enough around the grip to properly lock the support hand on-top (currently has a Glock 19). Her fingers can't come around far enough past the front strap to wrap around the side. They sit on top of the front strap and stick out towards the support hand.

Anyone have either gun near Jackson Arms that I could maybe take a look at?

Well if her hands are that small, I doubt she will be able to comfortably reach and pull the Double Action trigger on the P01 for the first shot.

Good to know. Does CZ have any short reach trigger options, similar to Sig?

M&P9 has the interchangeable grip options. The smallest was way too thin for my preference, where as the P-01 fits just right for me. So you should look into the Smith.

Well the Sig Short Reach trigger and Short reset system are 2 different things that can be individually installed.

In either scenario, it will roughly decrease the static point less than a centimeter. The Short Reset trigger from CGW will basically mod you out of the SSP and Production divisions on a P01 and for those who will be using it as a home defense pistol or as a CCW, the setscrew is rather visible.

I have small Ayshun hands and I can barely just reach the DA comfortably.

Installing the thin CZ Aluminum grips could help with the length of pull.

              This.

For this reason, and it being DA/SA....I'd recommend the M&P compact.

                Thanks guys.

M&P sounds like the safer bet. Was leaning that way originally but I kept seeing CZ recommendations and with the fact that it's on roster, I figured I should check and be sure.

Anyone have an M&P9c near Jackson I could take a look at?

CZ P01 vs M&P9c for small hands

If you don't mind a SA gun, then you could always go with a Cz compact which is the P-01 only with a safety instead of a decocker. If you run it cocked and locked ala 1911 then that positions the trigger within easy reach and with some cgw parts can make the trigger amazing.

So really you have 3 choices, decocker, safety, or Striker fired. Each system has its strengths and I would ask what type of a system your gf would prefer, especially if she might be carrying this gun in the future.

My wife has the M&P9c and just loves it. She brags about it at the range and offers it to other women who are struggling with what their men got for them to shoot.

CGW has a reach reduction option as well as short reset system. it moves the trigger back 5 mm per the website.

Yeah, I'm really trying to find something that can at least hit 10 rounds. I tried to push a P239 but was a no go. She also likes the EMP(lucky me), but I can't find 10 round mags for it.

Thanks, that's promising. Does your wife also have small hands/use the small back straps?

If it's going to be her only gun, and primary use is at the range, I would go for the full-size m&p9. Nothing against the compact, I just prefer having a full height grip without needing mag extensions for my pinky, makes mag changes easier, and I don't think the compact is any narrower anyway. For carry, or if a really small grip is required, a Shield. The P-01 is awesome, but may be harder for her to manipulate. Really she should try and test a couple options out.

She has impossibly tiny hands so her entire hand fits on both the shield and M&P compact, no extensions needed.

Trying to test out off roster is really difficult though but that is also sort of the point of this thread. If someone has and M&P9c near Jackson I can check out, I could pay for range time, bring other pistols to shoot etc.
