    Barrel lengths

    Hello everyone,

I have another question for you all. I was wondering what is your favorite barrel length for your havorite hand gun, if you only had a choice of one hand gun to have to go to war with, to fighting off the zombies. Just the barrel lengths ranging from 5" to 3".

for me, I would go Sig P229 with a ~4" barrel, its still long enough to shoot at a distance, and still easy to conceal.

It really depends on the kind of handgun and the caliber. A .22 pistol could easily be smaller yet effective, especially against zombies.

I say 4 to 4.5 would be the most ideal IMO.

        Same, here.

That being said, I did just pick up my Glock 34, with all 5.3" of barrel, and it's making a solid care for itself

Well, at least the trigger and sight radius are.

Zombies are easy to kill unless it's a big horde then you have your work cut out for you. Are we talking Walking Dead type zombies or 28 Days Later/Z World type?
I would stick with 4" to 5" barrel length, but I would stick with my machete or tomahawk so I don't attract nearby walkers.

Can you imagine the smell in a zombie apocalypse scenario?

...if you only had a choice of one hand gun to have to go to war ...

Just the barrel lengths ranging from 5" to 3"

              5.0"

              The Beretta 92 is almost 5" @ 4.9"
The CZ-SP-01 is somewhere around 4.6"

Longer gives more velocity for more range, flatter trajectory, and more hitting/penetrating power. Longer guns are generally heavier and have less muzzle climb. Longer barrels are usually on larger framed guns with larger magazine capacities.

Whatever the barrel length, using it to shoot anyone talking "zombies" is a good use for it.

                Oh, now I'll catch hell.

Well, since you narrowed it down to between 3" and 5", I'll go with 5".

The sweet spot for me is around 4.25" (commander).

Based upon what I own = 4.25 to 5 inches . P-14, CZ75 or Commander, in that order.
