A little DIY Glock modification Updated 7-18

So I've had my gen 1 G21 for about two years now. I got it from my pops as he wanted to go back to a 1911. I was able to shoot it well, but really had to make sure I positioned my grip correctly. I finally decided to give a grip reduction and stippling a try. I also opened up the middle finger undercut a bit more as well.

Overall I'm very happy with the results so far. I want to think more about where else I'm going to stipple so I stop with just the back strap today. I may also fill the back of the grip and bevel it for easier reloads.

    UPDATE Post 15

that looks good and you have not overdone it in my opinion
but I think it may hurt the resale value just a little bit, if that's a consideration.

Resale is not a consideration. I'm keeping this gun forever.

Changed out the pics for better quality ones.

After looking at it some more, I think I'm going to stipple the back strap to the sides completely.

        Pretty much like this.

The first 2 pics, I have no idea what's going on there, what did you do? Fairly new Glock owner here and general nosey bastard I am.

                That's a gen 2 glock not a gen 1.

Looks a hella lot better than some recent threads showing lousy hack jobs, or folks embarking on lousy hack jobs.

Thanks. I've been thinking about doing this for over a year. I've done plastic welding body work before, so I had a good idea of what I was doing.

It's not a huge difference, but I took out a bit of the hump on the back strap. If you look close you can see the before is more round and the after is flatter. I did the "candle method" to get the back strap flatter. Except I used my propane torch on a very low setting.

I had to stipple the back strap afterwards because the process of melting the grip messed up the factory texture.

How can you tell? I may be wrong in saying its a gen 1, but that's what remember pops saying it was.

Thank you. I was nervous, but like many of my life decisions, I said F it, I'm doing it.

Finished the gun last night. I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out. It feels great in my hand. My shooting grip is much more natural and not forced.
