    Polymer vs metal guns?

Interesting article on a border patrol agent's gun that snapped in half.

Not trying to start a Polymer vs metal guns war here guys, it was just mentioned in the article.

I think it is more evidence that the agent needs to learn how to ride an ATV.

Hearing them repeat the BS myth about the indestructible AK at the bottom of the story was all I could bear. Anybody who owns and actually shoots their AKs know they can jam up, bend, and break as well as the rest of them. They might not admit it, but they know it.

Yeah I agree. If anything, this article shows the importance of carrying a backup.

Especially in his line of work. The border is getting scarier by the minute.

It's funny. The worst shooter I ever trained with, far worse than any first time shooter (including reluctant house wives) was a 12 year veteran of the Border Patrol. Utterly defined incompetent. Unsafe, could not hit the broad side of barn, kept messing up on friend or foe drills. This was after not only his departments efforts to train him up for years but some very expensive shooting schools efforts as well. Because they apparently couldn't fire him they were pouring money into getting him to qualify and sending him to pricey schools for multiple courses. In no way is this an example of how they all shoot...but just knowing he is among their ranks and that there are other law enforcement officers just like him out there...makes weary about just how competent the officer will be that responds to my 9-1-1 call. I know there are a lot of very dedicated and skilled shooters in uniform, but there many more who do the bare minimum to qualify, and a few like that Border Patrol agent that barely skate by after a heck of a lot of effort just to do that.

Yes, I know. A lot of them are admin guys. Still...scary.

That is true but mine has only jammed when a 22 casing found it's way in the gun. And I've fired thousands of corrosive rounds through mine. Sometimes a few hundred at a time without cleaning for months. And all it took was some oil to get it running fine again

If that gun didn't break, his hip probably would have...

Maybe it was a ploy to get good training lol jk. I know a department that has Smith and Wesson. 40 TSWs always braking. Decockers braking, firing pins, and cracked barrels.

Guess H&K needs to add ATV crash into the testing they do.

I broke a ratchet today because I put a piece of pipe on it to get more leverage. It broke because it was being used for something it was not intended for. Last I checked guns are not designed to double as crash padding.

His HK didn't just break from the fall. He fell onto it with his csb, which concentrated the force of his fall to a smaller area, increasing the pressure applied to the gun.
