New guy here...I have read the threads on magazines and have a few questions. Is it illegal to possess a 15 round magazine in California...it seems as though the answer is yes and no? Does it depend on the gun model or how you acquire it? Or is it a free pass to jail to use it at the range? Also I was given a 1964 30-30 marlin rifle by my Pops, do i have to register that in california? Thanks Guys

If you and your dad were both CA residents and your dad gave you the rifle after Jan 1 2014, you are required to register it using the OPLAW form within 30 days of the transfer.
If you and your dad were not CA residents at the time he gave it to you, or only one of you were, then different rules apply.
Whenever you ask about CA gun laws, you must provide as much detail as possible about your situation, no detail is too small. We need to know when this rifle transfer happened, where you lived at the time, where your dad lived at the time etc.

Then the rifle is yours. Nothing else is required.

Asked and answered.
'kamala' is the first name of the CA Attorney General. CA DOJ is known to read the forums (Hi, Staff Services Analyst-equivalents!) and some people, either seriously or in jest attribute some first posts to attempts to lure the unsuspecting into Bad Behavior.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment
