I broke my shield, again!

I was changing out the sights on my shield and to free the set screw of the red loctite I used a heat gun. This worked great EXCEPT, I forgot to remove all the plastic parts from the internals.

S&W is replacing the striker assembly because I simply said it broke, but they didn't want to send me the striker channel liner or the rear end plate of the slide.

I need the channel liner, rear slide retainer plate, and maybe the plate attached to the spring that holds the striker block under the rear sight if you got it.

I'll pay but I'm hoping one of you can help.

Smith & Wesson are the ones that put the red loctite on there. I'm not that stupid, I use blue.

Why don't you just tell them what you did, and see how much the parts you screwed up cost for them to replace?

I agree! You broke, man up and pay for your mistake. And while you're at it register a complaint about them using Red Loctite.

It's not actually locktite that they use its a plastic dip for anti vibration purposes. The most common problem I see is people using the wrong size Allen wrench and stripping the screw

Went through a whole lotta trouble removing mine. With no heat; the proper sized allen wrench either bends or strips the hole. I eventually had to use an easy-out and heat in order to back it out. Next time use either a soldering gun such as a Weller or a soldering iron. They put the heat on a very small area. I had to keep applying the Weller's tip to the screw many times before it finally eased out. Going slowly with the heat and easy-out, or wrench, will eventually work without melting any plastic. Use BLUE Loctite when replacing the screw. My local Ace hardware has replacement size screws.

I'm just asking if anyone has parts since Smith won't sell them unless I'm a gunsmith. I've looked online but sourcing all the parts in one place is difficult.

welcome to calguns brother. this place back in the days was very helpful, we now a have bunch of know it alls, I told you so's, and guys with too much time. these guys usually have 2000+ posts and joined during our last panic. I see them at the shooting range, and at competitions, usually rocking a cz spo1, don't be that spo1 guy. hahaha

You dicked up a perfectly fine pistol, and then misrepresented the situation to the manufacturer. Since you asked for help on a public forum, you don't get to control what the responses are. My advice is to pay honestly for the replacement parts,have someone fix it who knows what they are doing, and in the future don't try to fix what isn't broken.
