Pros: I think it is a great pistol, maybe the best DA/SA made (other than a P30) in terms of quality and reliability. Good ergonomics, an improvement over the USP. Excellent accuracy. A good carry pistol for someone who is hesitant to carry a striker-fired pistol. (The heavy DA serves as "safety.").

Cons: The trigger is subpar. The DA pull is smoother than the USP, but not as smooth as a P30, in my experience. The reset is too long. (The reset on a stock USP is much better). I do not like LEM trigger either because it is too long. The bore axis is a little high. The magazine capacity (if you live in a Free State) is only 13 rounds; it does, however, accept VP9 15-round magazines. The P30's ergonomics are better.

In sum: I do not care much for DA/SA pistols anymore. But if I had to have one, either this or the P30 would probably be it, at least in 9mm.

      P2000 is a great gun

I have used a P2000 V3 .40S&W as my primary carry gun for several years. It feels great in the hand, shoot flawlessly and accurately (at least as good as I can shoot it). The only issue I have is that the heavily curved trigger would chew my trigger finger, and the trigger pull is pretty heavy out of the box. I did a few trigger mods, including flattening the trigger, and is now 5.5/2.5 lb. pull. I really like the gun now, and have a 9mm version in jail and will probably complete the same trigger work. Here's a pic of the "new" trigger.

Love the P2000, but I can't shoot the LEM version very well.

Great pistol. I bought a used P2K w/LEM years ago. I have no idea how many rounds the original owner(s) put through it (consignment gun from Turners) but I put almost 3,500 rounds through it. It was my off duty carry for 7 months. It functioned perfectly with any ammo I loaded it with.

ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

              Do it!!!

Only issue is figuring out which variant you want to go with.

This is a necro thread from 2015. If you wanted to show off your P2000, post it in the HK pictures thread in the gallery.

Still relevant though, as I just picked up my P2000 yesterday.

I shot the LEM version before...it was ok. Would like to try the DA/SA one to compare. Good gun over all for a hammer fired polymer.

I'll necro post. Had it, bought tons of mags and stuff etc. Hated the trigger. Very specifically the reset. Sold it and the stuff with it for a huge loss. My 1911s treat me too well, I just couldnt get over the reset. I wanted to love the gun. Should of LEMed it.

I absolutely love both the P2k & P2K-SK They've both been 100% reliable with resectable accuracy.

The reset sure is a mile long compared to my USP, but something one can easily adapt to. The trigger itself is nice, just the reset is long. Can't compare this and a nice 1911, just wouldn't be fair.

I have a P2000 and it's ok. I like the double action pull. I thinks it's very smooth. I agree that the reset is longer than what one would like. I also don't like the floppy ambidextrous slide release. The slide release on the right side of the gun moves around ever so slightly. It's not a big deal but just an annoyance. Also I thought the mag release was a little small to reach so I replaced it with a larger one from and HK45. Other than that its a solid gun - can't really go wrong with an HK.
