Range day with Brown 1911

Just acquired my first high end 1911. I have/have owned Sig, Kimber, Dan Wesson, Springfield, and Colt 1911s. You can't even compare Brown to those manufacturers. It is just smooth, tight, and the trigger feels awesome. Break at 4 lbs 10 ounces according to my Lyman digital gauge. The pull is so consistent to about +/- 1-3 ounces.

There is 0 creep and breaks like glass. Reset is freaking superb! I put 200 rounds today. No malfunction at all. I didn't want to shoot at 7 yards because the accuracy is so boring. Now I know why people pay so much money for a great 1911Before I was like, psssh I could get 4 handguns for 3k. It's like driving a Luxury vehicle.

I have been laying down some lead with the Ed Brown @ 200 yards lately just for kicks while at the rifle range. The wind will really mess with you! Getting better at hitting the 20" gong! Now long range pistol unsupported, thats a challenge and a lot of fun!

Love the Brown's but prefer the Baer's. I find the brown has a softer reset than I prefer. It is still a very finely crafted pistol!

Wow. 200 yards? For me it's not so easy hitting the gong at 100 yards. But my Baer gets the job done.

Yes. I rented one and didn't like the front checkering. I wore gloves and kept shooting it. It's not too bad. If I ever get one, I'd change the guide rod and the grip housing.

The Ed Brown SF is a really nice pistol. I bought one a few months ago used from a fellow calgunner who took excellent care of it. Probably a lot of what this work of art is capable of is lost on me but I do feel the balance, the feel of the grip, and the trigger pull/feel are all just right for me. The pistol itself is so accurate it make me look like a much better shot than I normally am.
I still like my other production-level 1911's but the Ed Brown SF is something special. If EB had some kind of program to let people try out their pistols at the range they'd likely double their sales!

Yes, Ed Brown 1911's are nice. In my opinion, the trigger can be better. That was probably the only apect of the gun that I did not like as much when I had one. The fit/finish was superb though.

It's Chip Mccormick magazine. Runs great with my EB and all other 1911s.

Luck you the Les Baer was sold out, I picked up a Les SRP last year, and just got it back after 2 months of them fixing the safety and slide stop....
