    Base Pads for TRP

I am brand new to the 1911 world after just purchasing a Springfield TRP. After purchasing the gun, I went to Cheaper Than Dirt and purchased a couple of extra Springfield magazines. The magazines arrived today, and I see a bit of a problem: The magazines are shorter than the ones that came with my TRP as they do not have an extended base plate on the bottom to accommodate for the flared mag well. Can anyone tell me which base pads (I'm assuming they won't actually be plates as the factory mag base plates don't appear to be removable?) I can purchase to make these mags seat more easily with my TRP?

    Thanks for reading!

Its a problem using flat base mags with guns that have the a magwell funnel.

I Run Wilson 47d's for all my 1911's and then have the pads. ive used rubber (like rubber eraser material rubber) and even solid plastic and used a stencil, cut it out drill 3 holes (one of the removing the floor plate in the center) and 1 on each other side and drill/tap the floor plate metal. Pretty small screws, i think 1/4-20's but maybe smaller its been a while.

Its simple but takes a little while.

ive even used wood before when i wanted to shape more flair.

You can add one on: http://www.brownells.com/magazines/h...prod24857.aspx I think this one is too long, but just an example.
If the bottom has 2 screw holes, you are good to go.
If not, you will have to drill/tap yourself.

      Alternative, are the stick-on/glue: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/579...k-package-of-3

There are many to choose from, some stick out more than other. It's just preference, so research the length of the pads before you buy.

Lastly, you should have a loaded coupon from Springfield, and will discount those factory magazine with the basepad already installed.

You can also get chip mccormick power mags, which are 8 round, and also in my opinion are much easier to load.

Thanks for the detailed reply. If possible, I would really like to just buy a quick fix though (assuming this exists)

Thanks! I found those at Brownell's, but was confused about which one to purchase for my specific magwell. The mags I purchased do have the holes, so I guess its time for some measure, trial and error.

Lastly, do you ever have those "I'm an idiot" moments? I have one of those loaded coupons, in which I saw the price for the mags. I thought "well, let's see what they really go for online!" Saw "Springfield Factory Mags" on Cheaper Than Dirt for a slightly lower price (plus not having to send my CC info through the mail) and thought "easy decision, the CTD mags are the way to go!". And so here I sit...
