    Colt King Cobra

I realize that Colt is not making the King Cobra anymore. So why has the price on these revolvers more than quadrupled?

Your first sentence answers your second sentence.

Some magical force of market dynamics I would presume.
If I could only have one revolver it would still be my old ruger three screw.

Short story is that they didn't make an enormous amount back in the day, and now that Colt is bye-bye, they are increasing in value even more.

Because it has a pony on the frame and "Colt" on the barrel. Cobras are over rated and not nearly as nice as a quality S&W.

Colt is a very famous American icon and all their original snakes and old series 70s will keep appreciating in value.

I have a 6" SS King Cobra and a 686+ I would say they are about equal, but I prefer to keep the KC if I have to give one up.

Ironically, the 686 is a far better gun. Much more rugged and reliable, and can be tuned to have a better trigger than a King Cobra.

The Colt Snake series has a mystique around it that fuels the crazy prices. The current values are definitely not based on scarcity.

'mystique' is one word i was initially going to post in reference to the high prices.

Hmmm, same thing happened with the Shelby Cobra... You know, made in very limited numbers years ago, and no longer being made.

It must have something to do with the word "Cobra".

Idk why the price has gone up as much as it did, but, makes me not wanna sell mine especially knowing how much I paid for it.
