    New SSE Exemption (?)

For what it's worth, this guy claims you can get around the list using these "SSE uppers" to legally acquire the gun receiver then put a standard top end on it.

Nothing new, we did 1911 and 2011 frames all last year and all this year this way.

These 1911 and 2011 frames are a different animal than a Glock frame.

This is pretty much what they are doing with AR pistols. The usefulness of this is fairly limited. Since the gun must be built in a single shot configuration, only guns where the company would be willing to sell a lower on its own would even be viable. And then an upper would have to be developed for it. At the end, you would likely have a gun with no real warranty.

You might be able to get a 1911 with the features you want, but you probably couldn't get the actual 1911 that you want (unless the manufacturer was really nice). As for Sigs, Berrettas, Glocks, etc..., not likely.

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

Doesn't work like that. Glock doesn't sell just frames and the law says you cannot convert a semi auto to single shot to bypass the roster.

            That's what I thought.

Last time I checked, there were a lot of 1911 receivers (frames) available for sale to any FFL. So I assume if somebody fabricates a "SSE top end kit" to drop onto a 1911 receiver, any FFL could build it up and sell it as a legal SSE gun. Then you have a legal receiver in state and can put any top you want on it.

Lot of work and money to get a gun.

Yep, we are following the PC for this specific exemption. DOJ knows and doesn't have a problem approving th DROS. The modified PC gives a very specific formula to be roster exempt.

                Exactly

You can do it on a lonewolf frame because it was never in the books as a semiautomatic.

Now do we have enough purchasing power in CA to convince the likes of Glock, Beretta and Sig to only sell their frames?

So SSE2 means the gun has to be born a single shot, sold as a single shot, then transformed into semi-auto?

So for AR platforms, would a zero shot sled still qualify for SSE or does the build need to be born breaktop or bolt action?

Nothing new about this. Some if the very first SSEs were done using similar top ends.

Break top or bolt action, in addition to the zero sled.
