    CZ SP-01 Advice Needed

Hey fellow Calgunners. Just picked up my CZ SP-01. After looking it over and admiring its beauty I noticed that the front sight is not quite centered in the grooves on the top of the gun. It's slightly to the left of center when looking from the rear (see pics). Since its not a dovetail sight it can't be moved. This seems odd to me and I'm wondering if this is common or defect?

So I'm am asking fellow SP-01 owners; is this normal? Would anyone mind posting or texting me a pic of your front sight for comparison? 818-606-0187.

    Thanks!

If it shoot straight, don't worry about it. You can always adjust the rear to compensate if needed.

the grooves may be misaligned more than the site post. you can measure it to be sure but other than that, i wouldnt worry about it. the read sites are usually the adjustable one.

Got a lot of time on your hands OP? I don't think I ever would have noticed something like that, and I consider myself pretty OCD.

Be sure to ask your doctor if depression, rectal bleeding, and suicide are right for you.

In the United States a person's expertise on a subject is inversely proportional to their knowledge of the subject: The less they know about something, the more they become an expert on it.

LOL, I guess I'm just more OCD than most... It just struck me as strange.

Thanks Carcassonne for the pic. That helps a lot! Since you never noticed it, I assume its never been an issue when shooting.

I'm not sure I want to know.

It'd remind me too much of The Linda H***r incident.

Wow. Thanks Whipkiller for that very disturbing story and unshakable mental image...

Check your SP-01. If many of them are the same then I guess it doesn't really matter.

Anyone else notice this on your SP-01s?

It is half of a foam earplug. It keeps dirt out of the barrel. The other half is in the hammer channel of the slide covering the rear of the firing pin so it doesn't get hit with the hammer when I (practice) dry fire.

Noticeable to me but if it shoots straight, no problem. Slight chance it came corrected from the factory to correct for something else. Most likely the sight wasn't machined properly. If you look in your first picture, it seems like the cutout/groove for the sight starts 1 line in on both sides but it blurs out there so it's hard to say for sure. And yet the sight is off center. However, whether the lines are perfectly centered or not is another issue I can't tell from the pictures.

However, if the slide wasn't machined properly, it'd still be an easy fix drifting the rears over the same amount.
