Best/good glock triggers??

Was looking to upgrade the triggers of my g17 and g19.. Recommendations on good triggers?

Any opinions on if it is worth it to change the triggers?

I'll just paste this from the thread right above yours because I just typed it:

I had a ghost trigger on my gen4 21 and switched it back right after. The pull weight was less, but quality of the pull/break suffered IMO. If I was going to do anything I would stick with glock parts at the very least and not get too crazy.

Is it a $200 tuned glock trigger for competition? If you're at the level to need that, would an optimized 1911, CZ, Sig, whatever, be even better?

For casual range work or SD, does a trigger job solve a problem?

10 minutes. The hardest part is getting the spring cups back on the striker without an extra set of hands.



Nobody shoots Sigs in competition. I shoot 1911s in a 1911 specific category.

The CZ that is the hotness costs $1,900 and is off roster. $200 to make a Glock more shootable for competition still makes it one of the cheapest guns you'll see at a match.

If you're just slow fire plinking at your local public range (nothing wrong with that) then no, you don't need a fancy trigger. Stock Glock triggers are 7lbs, I don't see anything wrong with wanting a lighter one. They used to be lighter, but litigation keeps bumping up the poundage.

Good to know. I'd certainly be shooting my Sigs, given the chance, although OEM Glock triggers have been surprising good and predictable.

I suppose participating in IDPA/USPSA would change my view, and I'd like to try it, however doesn't it defeat the purpose when you start tuning your guns for competition?

Are all the bikes in the Tour De France made out of regular steel? Are the cars in stock car racing stock?

Nothing wrong with tweaking your sporting equipment to give you an advantage.

I'm sure that most people's "purpose" in competing is to have fun. Don't see how a lighter trigger is going to defeat that.

Tour de France analogy aside, I must agree with your assessment. Although for myself I still see it as competing with the tools I'd use in the real world, and I'm only racing myself.

If you want to go cheap a lighter striker spring will make the biggest difference. Get a 4lb striker spring, lighter saftey plunger spring, a glock minus connector or a lone wolf 3.5 connector and the lone wolf trigger stop. Polish everything and polish and round the firing pin block. With a 4lbs striker spring you will probably need a lighter recoil spring otherwise the gun will be pulled out of battery when you pull the trigger. If you get light strikes then use a lightened striker. Some peole have had luck lightning their own strikers.

You can lighten the stock firing pin spring by clipping a few coils off. When using a lighter connector the trigger will lose some crispness.

After this your next option is getting a new trigger bar. I don't have experience with those.

Totally. Nobody is gonna care if you're rockin' a stock Glock. Competition is a great way to shoot under pressure, against others in a dynamic environment. James Yeager and Chris Costa don't teach at the Delta Force compound, top competitors like Jerry Barnhart and Rob Leatham do.

I don't know if you saw, this is the GLOCK thread on what's best triggers. No one even needs a handgun. You just need food, water and shelter.


But if you have a Glock and asked about triggers, the triggers I suggested are good, for competition, or just for your pleasure.

I'm working on a setup. Glock minus connector (if it ever shows up), zev safety and firing pin spring, glock factory striker but lightened, polish job.

So far with everything but the connector, I've dropped the weight 25%, maintaining the nice break and reset. Will update after the connector arrives.
