    Colt SAA Question...

    Hello fellow CalGunners,
What year did Colt introduce the Single Action Army in .357 magnum? According to WIKI, the .357 cartridge was invented in 1934. I saw a 1960 Colt ad that says, "Now .357 Magnum in Colt's Authentic Single Action Army." Does anyone know if it was 1960?

    Any help is appreciated.

Take a gander at the coltforums. You might be able to find your answer there.

I am guessing 1956 with the introduction of the second generation of the SAA. Now the first generation, 1876 to 1940, apprx 357,000 SAA were produced and a few was "special order" in .357 between 1934 and 1940.

          I have a 1979 produced 357 and it is a fun plinker.

I found my reference and 525 .357 Magnums were produced as a 1st generation SAA.
