    Walther PPS

I'm pretty bummed that it didnt make the list. I got to handle one listed as "For sale to LE only".

Would it be legal to have an LEO friend buy it?

Practically, what does it mean when a gun is NOT on the Roster, or a manufacturer lets one fall off the Roster?

California FFL dealers are not allowed to sell it to ‘civilians’ from dealer stock.

    Huh? That’s it?

LEOs can buy them. Someone can move into California as a legal owner of one or many handguns not on the Roster and bring them into the state. Any California resident can transfer a non-Roster handgun to another California resident using Private Party Transfer. That has to happen at an FFL dealer, but the Roster does not apply to PPT.

since this was in the faq
No, that would be a straw purchase and can get your buddy in trouble. Thats what I read here. For example if he got it and then decided he didn't want it and sold it to you.... that's different

I wish I had a LEO buddy who could decide not to want a Sig 250 for me.

Straw purchase only applies when the last person isnt eligible to buy a handgun. Assuming your not a felon, a cop buddy can do this I think there is a limit on PPT of handguns (to avoid people making proft through resale). However it may not be smart to have the LEO buy it then do a PPT in the same instant.
