    Ok. Many great responses. lol

From what I gather from all these posts is that a 1911 should never ever ever ever have a malfunction, but if it does then it's the ammo's fault, or the shooters fault, or it's too be expected during the 1,000 break-in period and one should just ultimately replace it with a Glock regardless of the cause of the malfunction.

Yes, except the Glock part. Perish the thought!

Acceptable number of malfunctions should be zero...
My 40 year old Colt Government stove pipes about 5% of the time.
My two week old DW PM 7 with 300 rounds through it, has malfunctioned zero times...

40 year old Colt may just need a longer ejector, tune or replace extractor and have the chamber checked for roughness.

It may just be a simple case of lube before use.

My two week old DW PM7 had 1 malfuction on its 2nd or 3rd magazine, it looked like a double feed. Just did a tap-wrack and never thought twice about it. Right now I'm inching closer to the 500 official break in mark with zero malfunction since. Once I break this mark I plan to get send it in to get some front checkering, slide top serrations and gets the side serrations dehorned. Love this thing however it seems prone to fingerprints and scratches. I scratches if you look at it funny...
