    Springfield .45 1911

I was on the Springfield Armory website and saw an awesome 1911, the Lightweight Champion Operator. It has a 4" barrel and an integrated rail on the frame. I want one. Where can I get one in Socal?

It's not CA legal. Find someone who already has one in state and convince them to sell it to you via PPT.

Why are some of the Springfield 1911s legal and some not? Aren't they all the same pistol with slight variations? That sucks.

Slight variations that have nothing to do with the operation of the firearm.... THAT is the maddening thing about our ridiculous party approved list of handguns...

I bought my Champion from JMB1911 (see above), by FAR my favorite gun. Some days I find myself fondling it a little too much. Champions are a highly recommended gun. Here she is. I polished out a few minor scratches, looks so pretty.

Just regular ole metal polish that people use to shine wheels. A little polish, and a lot of Qtips. I just wanted to get the really tiny scratches out, the ones that come from everyday handling and holster wear. I didn't want to do too much, then I might not want to shoot the thing.

Hey DReyna. I see you kept her the way I sold it to you. I'm still having seller's remorse from that one To the OP...some guns are legal and some not because the manufacturer submits certain guns for testing to the CA DOJ. They have to meet the CA DOJ's stringent criteria for certification for sale in our state. To see which guns are certified, here's the DOJ link.

I haven't changed it a bit really. I did put the stock SA grips on it, but I like the feeling of the VZ ones better. I'd like to try some other VZ's of a different color. I hope to get at least one more Champ.

thanks for the replies. I'm seriously thinking about getting a 1911. I never really liked them, but for whatever reason, they are very appealling to me right now. Maybe I should let that feeling subside in a couple of months and save myself some money.

I assume you've never shot one, then. I say this because, if you actually had shot one, you wouldn't say such a foolish thing.

Every pistol guy needs at least one 1911 or two or three or... Just depends on how quickly you can shake the bug.
