    Handgun display

Helping a friend set up a gun room with weapons displays and was curious what the consensus was about cradling vs the coated rod in barrel methods of holding handguns on a slat wall. Seems like a coated rod would be sufficient, and at a 30 degree angle from the wall, you could store a few more guns - but wanted to make sure before I recommend this to my buddy that's planing to display his prized collection.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Sounds like a recipe for theft unless the room is a vault.

If he has a priced collection make sure he has a way to suck the moisture out of the air in that room. Leave them hanging and he'll have rust before long if this isn't addressed.

This is behind a vault door and is temperature/humidity controlled (70* and 30-35% humidity --per museum specs to avoid cracked stocks /grips and rust).

No concerns about a vinyl coated rod down the barrel for long term support?

I've stored guns like that for years now, no issues.

Does he want to actually display his guns for his visual enjoyment? If so it sounds like the cradle system.

If its just storage. Plastic coated rods with the muzzle into the wall for the win.

I like to see more of the guns (cradle) than the slim profile (on rod) of them.

Sounds like a pegboard is the way to go.
