    I want an XDS .45...

So I've been eyeing the XDS .45 for a long time now only to find out it's not on the handgun roster.

Is there still a way to get one? From what I understand, it is not legal to have one sold to me via retail. Can one be purchased online from a place like gunbroker and then have it legally registered to me? Does it have to originate from within California? (Meaning, the person selling it has to be in California.)

If it proves too difficult to get ahold of, what are some other good single stack .45 options? Preferably compact, the traditional 1911 is on the larger side.

Watch the marketplace here on CalGuns they come up for sale.
You can still buy them from a private party but not new from an LGS or online.

Your only option is PPT from someone here in CA. Be prepared to pay $700-$1,000.

My opinion of the XDS. (I have a 4" 9mm)

        1) They are great guns. I like mine better than the S&W Shield which is why I have one.

        2) They are not really worth the price of what they are selling for. Mine came with an over-sized hardcase, useless holster, and useless magazine holder. They could have put the gun in a cardboard box and saved my $100.

        3) I won't be selling mine any time soon.

            I love my Glock 36
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I just bought one a few weeks ago with the short barrel and case with all the accessories. It was in new condition and I paid $335 for it on GunBroker. Bottom line is you have to watch all possible sources of PPT's in Kali in addition to Calguns and you have to be patient. If a good deal comes up, buy it right away. If you have to ask your wife you will never get a hold of one at a reasonable price.

I also purchased an XDm 9mm from the same seller. Both were auctions so it was not a matter of low balling or pestering the seller. If you are wondering I am not interested in selling. I was looking for additional XD series handguns to add to my collection. Good luck.
                And so it goes...

I'm 20... I turn 21 in October. Just trying to plan ahead because I don't want to get hit with the surprise serial number engraving thing in 2016.

I have both the 9 and 45, and they are great carry guns. Carry guns were my main focus before SSE went away. Good luck.

Like others have said, you just have to watch many sources here in California.
I decided on the 3.3 xds in 9mm and watched the calguns marketplace for months and saw a range of prices, anywhere from $650-$900!
Finally, when I saw one for $580 with a rubber talon grip already installed, I had to pounce on it. Guy was a good seller and was simply selling for the same price he paid.
                        Good luck man.

                          Thanks.

I'm assuming I will have to have it shipped to my FFL. I see a lot of people saying they will not ship.

I believe both the buyer and seller will need to physically appear at the same FFL to initiate the transaction, so I don't think there will be any shipping involved.
