1911 in 9mm would be the way to go in your situation. I love my kimber but for the spare change in my wallet at the moment, nothing really beats my g19. Until i buy a ruger 10/22 that is.
walmart prices are what I found cheapest so i'll go by that right now. 100 rounds of WWB in 9mm = $20. 100 rounds of .45acp WWB = a bit over $30. Doesn't seem too bad until you think of it this way. 200 rounds of 45 or 300 rounds of 9mm for $60. 400 rounds of 45 or 600 rounds of 9mm for $120. Here is where you really notice that 9mm is the best way for more practice, 800 rounds of 45 or 1200 rounds of 9mm for $240. The longest it will take me to shoot 800 rounds of 45 is about 4 range trips. Shortest time had been 2 trips. So if you plan on taking more then 4 trips to the range a month, 9mm will give you the advantage.
