I know its required to be age 21 to purchase or even have one transferred to you. What about parents to son who are over 18 but under 21?

Yes, you can have a handgun transferred to you by a direct relative (father to son) when you are 18. As you said, you have to be 21 to buy on your own.Please, calm down. -

Looks like the way to give it to a brother or sister is to give it to your parent, and have them give it to your brother/sister. It'll cost $38 in transaction fees you need to send to the DOJ.Comment

According to the Penal Code, interfamilial transfers can only be between parents/children or grandparents/grandchildren. Transfers between spouses are allowed under the Family Code. Any other transfers, including between siblings, have to go through a dealer.Comment

You can, I have two and I'm only 20. You have to fill out a form and send a 19 dollar transfer fee to the DOJ. Only between parents and children or grandparents and grandchildren. Also you must obtain a handgun safety certificate.

Just so no one can tell me, "Well you never asked." Since the weapon would be in my name, can I apply for a CCW? I'm 20 and turn 21 in March, so it's not a long wait, but just knowing if it can or not would be nice.Comment
