reccomend me 2 holsters

I ve been thinking about getting a new holster for my XD 45 5in, i want it to be a thigh drop down. i was eying a safariland 6004, any input?
What kind of belt do i use?
Mag pouches?
what setup do u use?


the other holster is for my SW 460 5 inch. any suggestions. i was thinking a custom rig?

Safariland great -- have one -- but check out Blackhawk SERPA leg rig -- I think it's the best on the market.

My Son and I bought this model for our Xd tactical length .40 cal, and we both are very pleased with it. It adjusts not only around legs, but you can adjust the holster to the gun as well. When adjusted properly, it is a pleasure to wear, even over extended periods while walking and climbing.

To be honest with you I'm not a big fan of the safariland duty holsters. My pick is the serpa, its a great holster. Its comfortable and holstering and unholstering is fast and easy.

if you want something for a gun with light then i think the safariland is the only way to go. the release system isn't that fast but i think people accept this becuase the quality of the thigh rig is so high.

if you look at the bladetech one for lights, not so great. the webbing looks cheap and the "plate" it's mounted to doesn't look great.

if you don't need a light holster i think it's hard to beat the serpa for speed. if you're concerned about a hood then you can go with the level 3.

some people have said things about the serpa's 3 screw attaching system... shrugs.

i just wish the serpa would allow for a light, but their designs just don't allow for that.

i believe the serpas with light use the proprietary blackhawk light. those are the ones that i know of. if there are serpas that take a surefire or a streamlight i'd like to know of it.

I know they're designed around the Blackhawk light, but I was under the impression that the BH light was a standard form factor. I'll hassle my contact over there and see what the deal is.

Upon some research, I can already state that Blackhawk's Xiphos is definitely not a standard form factor:

However, Surefire and Streamlight have large product lines, and there may well be a light within their lines which would fit into this holster dimensionally.

if you have a contact over there ask them if and when they're expanding the level 3 series of holsters. i'm sure many agencies would like to see sig on there. it's great they already covered m&p that's real good foresight. sure the xd boys want to see that.
i'd personally like to see colt 1911 level 3 serpa

They're constantly expanding their level 3 line. When I ordered mine (non light bearing) a couple months ago for my Sig 229, it was only available for Sigs and Glocks. Now it's available for a crapload of other options, with more on the way.

I've sent my contact (the guy I interviewed for the Blackhawk-specific parts of the TGW articles) the link to this thread, so he'll probably be reading it at some point.
