    M&P $0.25 trigger job

I loved the smoothness I got when I did my Glock trigger years ago, and the M&P turned out very nice as well. Photos are a little crude but will show where to polish. Mine has had about 500 rounds through it and you can tell where the metal to metal contact occurs. Add a little knowledge of how the system works and you can figure out where to polish. The trigger is definitely smoother and lighter. Crisp break and reset stayed the same (Apex sear and USB). If you dont have the USB, polish the striker block as well. I recommend testing between steps so you dont get too light. Toward the end I eased up on the polishing as to not lighten it too much.

    This is what I used.

I used Q Tips, but removed most of the fibers from the end, leaving me with a small layer of fiber between the metal and the hard stick.

Polish the areas outlined in red. This took about 30 minutes, by hand, including disassembly and reassembly.

Where the trigger bar interfaces with the sear and striker block

Where the sear interfaces with the trigger bar

Where the striker interfaces with the sear

Where the sear interfaces with the striker (I didnt polish much here. This was my last step and the trigger was getting light)

Take up is smooth and instant, break and reset are crisp and consistent. As always, take care with reassembly ensuring all safety mechanisms are functional.

Afterthought: wondering if you could put the qtip into a drill chuck... Hmmm....

Yea I did the same thing with some super fine sand paper, just smoothed off the rough spots on the contact point of the firing pin safety plunger and trigger bar in the e 1st pic. So easy and changed the triggers feel dramatically.

I mirror shined everything on mine and installed the apex polymer trigger, its a whole different gun. Couple leo friends who have switched to the m&p ha e shot mine and were amazed, highly recommended!

One issue with putting a mirror polish on working surfaces is that very smooth surfaces no longer hold lubrication. This is call lubricant shearing, and will actually accelerate wear and galling in that area. There is such a thing as too smooth.

You don't lube those spots on the M&P anyway. Well, at least S&W does not recommend lubrication on those spots. The sear and striker block are hardened parts and polishing the surface shouldn't accelerate any wear.

What blocks are you using to hold the parts?

They're just some vise jaws from Amazon, in a bench vise

Cool beans OP, wish your post would've happened prior to my me ordering the CAEK kit and polymer trigger from Apex. Then again, I'm good. I love my Apex parts and how they've transformed my Pro.

A little polishing here and there couldn't hurt though.

                      Thanks for posting.
