    Springfield/Glock/Sphinx Shootout

OK not really, but I just got a chance today to shoot these three:

    Initial Impressions:

    Springfield Milspec: Nice shooter

Glock 17 Gen 4: Predictably mediocre

Sphinx Alpha SDP: F*@'in Awesome!!! I mean really, this is my new favorite gun. It rocks.

Without the VP9 in the mix, this shoot out is for second place.

I really like Springfields. I have a tactical XD 45 and it's pretty damn accurate, even for a novice shooter. I haven't had a lot of practice with it but I can put rounds right where I want them.

I LOVE my Sphinx. The fit, finish and ergos and that single action trigger tho

Still, my Gen3 Glock 35 has been a fantastic gun. I can get consistent tight groups. I was really happy with the trigger straight out of the box.

I go to my 1911 for that tack driving 230 grain experience

I have an SDP, agreed it is quite nice (ergos and single action). It's my favorite DA/SA pistol. Sig p226 with SRT still has the best trigger reset I've ever experienced, and my cz75 sp01 (Cajun gun worked over) is quite nice as well and has an even better trigger but the SP01 ergos don't match my hand as well as the SDP grip or the Sig E2/ergo grip.

My VP9 is still my choice for serious work though. "As good" ergos and no double action, and arguably, modern striker fired pistols are (im somewhat assuming and admitting only marginally) more reliable.

I really like shooting the Sphinx but I am more accurate with my Glock 17.

I like the Glock for what it is, but I'm dead on the with Sphinx and recoil is almost non-existent. Maybe its because my hands are smallish.

Springfield is my first 1911 and hope to shoot it a lot more. Sights could be better but maybe I can swap those out down the road.
