I'd pay a premium for something I wanted that was truly rare but, not much of one. However, being a capitalist, if I was selling any off roster gun, I'd price it at free America price plus a large premium just to have a starting place.

Oh yes, if there was a down payment option for that civie G36 I would already be on it. I'm not sure if I buy the sub $2k part but hey, if they pull it off all the better. Not only that, but a US made G36 sporter is also in the works.

But a MP5K would just be ridiculous, the 10 year old in me would never forgive myself for not buying it.Comment

They are not worth any premium without visible abs.Comment

I saw a couple of Walther PPQ M2's that were going for $900 - $1000 used. On GB the price was routinely around the low $500 brand new- so essentially double the price here in our state. I won't lie, I was tempted, but do I really need a more ergonomic glock for the double the price? Nope, not going to do it... especially for a weapon that is great because of it's price ($500 or so), not despite it...Comment

Trying to think if I own any handguns that are ON the roster... maybe one or two. I know two used to be but aren't anymore.
I've paid a premium for almost all my handguns. How much would depend on how much I wanted it. I resigned myself long ago to the fact that I'll probably pay $200-ish (sometimes more) more than Free States for older Smith revolvers or any 1911s that are of interest to me.
"Rare" or "off roster" mean pretty much zilch to me. "Do I want it?" and "How BADLY do I want it?" That's the crux of the biscuit right there!
Paying a premium for something doesn't mean the buyer's dumb. It means they want something and have the money. Well... except for a $1500 stock Glock. That's just silly!
Hell, I paid MSRP + $200-ish for my SR1911 and I'm not the least bit sorry. It is, after all, as good as a Les Baer.

You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

LOL. Both of those examples are truly rare and off roster but, both are also roster exempt in the first place. I so want a Liberator but, they are just too damn expensive for a gun that shouldn't be fired more than a few times in it's life.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

What gets me is the guy who thinks every S&W revolver ever made is "rare". Lets not forget these were the Glocks of yesterday.Comment

Last month I sold my "rare" M&P FS 9mm for $450. I could have bumped it up to $2,000

It depends on how much I want it. Not how rare it is.Last edited by tbc; 04-29-2015, 8:38 PM.Comment
