Help Me Choose Revolver

I am looking to get another revolver in a month or so, so Ive been doing some shopping. I think my top choices are the ruger gp100 6 inch, the 686 hunter 6 inch, or the TRR8 5 inch. Gonna use for target shooting at the range and maybe some hunting one of these days My concern is finish fading or rusting and recoil. I am tired of shooting titanium snub noses and I want a scope on there, so that's why I have been leaning towards the TRR8, but I like the longer barrels with better sight radius and more weight. I also would have to special order the TRR8 and buy it without holding it and feeling on it, VS. the others. Anybody happen to have all three?

IMO, the recoil and finish concern weigh against the TRR8. Your intended purposes are different than the tactical advantage purposes the TRR8 has to offer.

I have had my 686 6" for many years now, and I have never had an ounce of regret that I didn't choose a Ruger (I have nothing against Ruger).

My original determining factor was the slightly less weight, and the "forged versus cast" characteristics.

I'll second this...but if you find an TRR8 get it they are hard to find. I get mine outta jail tomorrow and while i have no "tactical" reason to have one. It's something I wanted and I know I can get a 686 fairly easy. Also know the scandium frame marks up easily and may not be your first choice in hunting. I also wouldn't worry about a stainless 686 rusting.

And the 686 is on my next to get list.

Smith & Wesson 686 performance center 6'. Or if you prefer 44 mag, the 629. Awesome ..

Wait...don't new 686's have pre drilled holes under the rear sites?

Edit: dude, google it. 686's have holes under the sites. Get a Weaver base and mount your glass. Buy a 686 and keep your eyes peeled for a TRR8.

All three are nice wheel guns. For most bang/$ I say Ruger. But I would be happy with any of the three you have listed.

All are fine but I put my money on the TRR8. Honestly if you don't like it someone will buy it off you easily.
I have a 686 and a few TRR8's.

686 Deluxe 6", they come tapped and installing a scope is easy.

the only thing about TRR8 is the hoster... otherwise it's a great shooting machine, I love mine!

True getting a holster was a bit more of a search. TRR8's come tapped with a rail that you can attach.

So it looks like I can get a 686 amd a gp100 for the price of the trr8 but neither have a flash light rail. Thats one expensive flashlight rail eh. Damn good nitch product. One of each 6 shooter is tempting though

I love my 686 . Nothing wrong with a ruger. My next one to get out of jail is a S&W 586. I like it even better cause it's blued.
