I'm purchasing a SA 1911 loaded stainless in 9mm. Really considering sending it to sacs and getting the black armory kote along with checkering ans some other work. I know some of you on here have gone to sacs for custom work. What was your experience like and was the price decent or through the roof? Also was shipping a hassle or was it pretty much fed ex, track it like a hawk and wait for it to come back. Your input is greatly appreciated

Why not, so you can ask for the FedEx shipping. Have them bill you shipping, think it's still $30 round trip, good deal and insurance will be on them vs FedEx and they will have more leverage on a replacement if anything goes missing.
On the front strap checkering, think if you want a trigger guard undercut, because that is not a real option after checkering.
Other than that, 2 weeks to 2 months is their usual quote depending on what you do.
Wait for the phone call that your gun is complete and you can pay via with your credit card.
Door to door, no FFL required.

Will also add, do not limit yourself to just their parts or request (the pdf list), haha. They will work with other manufacturers parts as long as it's quality and do customize it if they can perform the work.
So if you want a trigger job but with the SVI/Infinity trigger, go at it.

They do, but it's best to call them beforehand and verify if they'll use your specific parts( they generally want them to be reputable/high quality parts before they'll stand behind it).
The pistol I had sent in I had supplied some Ed brown and Novak's parts, they were fine for SACS.Comment

SACS can and will pretty much do whatever you want. As stated before, other/ customer-supplied parts aren't a problem as long as they're quality and approved by them beforehand. They also have a short list of companies they will order from for you (say you want a Wilson BP Ambi Safety or a 10-8 trigger). The only thing they won't do is warranty said parts, which isn't unexpected.Comment

SACS is good.
I had them do an action job with tool steel parts and the work was finished in a week even though I was quoted 4-6 weeks! Amanda from SACS is great to work with. The round trip shipping via FedEx is $40.Comment

They do charge slightly higher than their price sheet if you supply the parts (in my experience) but it is still worth it.Comment
