    Need help with a decision

    ALCON:

I'm trying to close on a house and funds are getting just a tad bit tight. I'm trying to decide which of my two revolvers to depart with, S&W 642 or Ruger GP-100 SS 4", but I can't figure which one will be harder for me to replace.

I need some advice on which one of these two revolvers is more difficult to replace, to finalize my decision.

    Please Asst.

    Thank you,

If the S&W is pre-lock I would say that might make it hard to replace but otherwise both guns are still sold new and both are on the Roster so I don't think either would be particularly hard to replace.

      S&W is not a pre-lock.

I would probably put them both for sale then. One might sell faster than the other.

Is there one you like more than the other?

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I think the harder of the two may be the Smith. I see the 642 more often then the 442 these days. So if it you wanted the exact match then the 442 from what I am seeing may be a bit harder to come by, but not impossible.

It depends on how much money you're looking for. The 642 will get no more than $400 the GP100 $600+

Both are on the DOJ approved list through 1/1/16

Sell the Ruger. Getting a S&W revolver has become a headache since they started stamping an "A" on the model number or something like that. (I don't have much info, but look it up S&W, roster, "A")

Sell the one you like less, in case replacement doesn't end up being an option down the line for whatever reason. If you like them equally sell the one that will command a higher price.

If you're in SD I'll give you a fair price for the Ruger.

My mistake I meant to hit the "6" key. They Regularly sell for $629.99 at Turners on sale now for $599.

                            I think it's worth $600

Thanks I'll correct my prior post.

Yeah, I've been shopping these lately... Really thought I was buying one (or Match Champion) but jailed an impulse P-01 yesterday instead.

I'd say your $600 estimate is pretty good, and they seem to move pretty well in the marketplace.

Good luck with the house OP.
