      COLT Double Eagles

      Same type of operation as my Sigs. Flip the lever down and drops the hammer ready to DA. I'm the Original Owner on this pair. Shot and loved them for 25 years. Great pieces in my COLT 1911 Collection.

      Best, Dave

          Made a few in 10mm too, like mine. The slide is 80 series 1911 w/o the notch for the safety.

            The Double Eagle was my first .45 ACP. My second is the DW PM7.

            Lots of 1911 Fanbois get really excited if you refer too a DE as a 1911. They get all red-faced and whiney and try too tell you why the DE is NOT a 1911. For me, it is close enough.

            Yes, it has a firing pin block. Below is a great description of the DE;

            Colt Double Eagle pistol, left size   Colt Double Eagle pistol, right size   Colt Double Eagle Commander pistol     Type Double Action semiautomatic Caliber .45ACP, also .40S&W and 10mm Auto  Weight unloaded 1205 g Length 216 mm Barrel length 127 mm Magazine capacity 8 rounds   Colt Double Eagle pistol has been manufactured...

              ...as a Lefty this is what I liked about the DE. And it has "2 Eagles" Rollmarked on the Slide. I do have awesome Colt SA examples and get the 1911 OGs. No matter what anybody says or thinks, DEs are great shooting Colts. Mine have performed flawlessly. They are Colt 1911s.

                The O1991DA is series 80 - has FPB.

                I was thinking of SSEing one last year, but other pistols wound up higher on my list.

                Looks like they've been discontinued.

                  Used to have a Double Eagle Mark II like " HYPURR's " above. Like what he said, mine was scary accurate, just like a target gun! That said, I didn't care for the ergonomic. Sold mine away around 2008 for $600.00.
