Springfield loaded Target 9mm from turners

just put a deposit down for SA loaded target 9mm at Turners.

Did any one that have put a deposit down receive a call from Turners about availability of this gun?

Also I am little confused, since SA has already discontinued this model this year, are they running a special batch for Turners? Hope Turners doesn't say sorry we couldn't get you the gun after waiting for couple of months.

    Thanks

Don't hold your breath when putting a deposit down at Turners. Put one down for a Colt 45 and gave up after 11 weeks. Found the pistol on-line for less. Lesson learned (for me) is if they have buying power, they should know when the next shipment should arrive.

Did the staffer at Turners give you any potential timeline when you placed the deposit?

It seems to me that taking deposits, for something that you don't have in inventory, is a marketing way of judging interest in a product at a given price. I imagine that they need a certain sales volume to make their margins at that predetermined price. So I wonder if they hold off ordering the product until a minimum sales volume (number of deposits) has been reached?

They did not give any timeline.

Springfield discontinues a lot of stuff (not in their yearly catalog), but they still continue to make "discontinued" models.

Production just slows down as their new models gets squeezed in.

It's out of Turners hand, just be patience and a little happy there is a 9mm 1911 being allocated to CA.

It will be awhile...suckers! I pulled in a few 1911 in 9mm of different brands last year.

We agree; our store staff can contact our buyers at any time for a more specific delivery ETA.

We put our flyers together with a 6-8 week lead time. The guns we put in the flyer are those we have on hand or those that factories ask us to place because they can ship us "x" amount of guns. In this case SA said they could follow through on the 1911's in time.... but did not.

Our buyers pressed SA for info yesterday afternoon and they answered back this morning that they were finishing slides and that we could expect guns "in the next couple of weeks." They owe us quite a few guns for deposits and we have asked for more else we'll be immediately out of stock and seemingly would have to wait for weeks for the next shipment after that.

Yeah, SA seems to be known for this. Until the 2015 catalog, the full-rail TRP Operator (CA-compliant) was technically not in their product line-up anymore, but a production run would sneak into the market from time to time with little forewarning, sending buyers into a tizzy.

Just don't lose hope that the size of the CA gun market means most manufacturers still try to throw us a bone every once in a blue moon... money talks!

FWIW, i called Springfield last week. I was told by the person in customer service that PI9134LP Loaded Target Stainless Steel 9mm was no longer in production.
