    Browning/Sig P220????

I was at Peterson's gun store in Albuquerque NM, yesterday and they have 2 handguns that were Stamped Browning. However, on the slide it states "Made by Sig Sauer" and right below it stated "Made in Germany". They were essentially Sig P220s. Does anyone have anymore info on these guns.

I had no idea that Sig made a version of the 220 for Browning. Should I try to pick one up? They were in the $600 range.

Browning imported Sigs as Browning Double Action, BDA. This was before Sig began importing their own wares.

Id say it would be a neat gun to have. Not sure if that price is good though.

They're nice guns, had a couple before.
I'd say $500-550 range, especially in NM.
I used to live in Santa Fe / Las Cruces, prices are usually
a bit lower in that part of the country.
          Good luck!

Are you a NM resident or have some sort of workaround? Are they in 45acp? If in 38 Super I'd want one, maybe a 9 if cheap enough but most would not want a full size gun with a full size grip that takes a single stack magazine when the P225 is smaller or you can have a P226 or P228.

Also you will have to be OK with having a heel type mag release.

Yup. Browning branded the SIG 220 for sale before SIGARMS established a presence domestically. It is a 1st Gen 220 with the machined front sight, sharp hammer spur and heel mounted magazine release.

The most desirable ones are the ones chambered in .38 Super...I seem to remember a number quite a bit lower than 1k

Thanks for all the feedback. I had no idea that Browning imported the 220. I don't remember if they had one chambered in 38 Super.

I've moved to Utah but do a lot of business NM.

actually, "SIG-Sauer System" is present on right side of slide, and below that you'll see "Made in W. Germany" spelled out.

the first law enforcement agency in the US to issue the P220 was the Huntington Beach Police Department and it was the Browning import .45 ACP that was the issue pistol.

Yeah, Browning brought them in for several years as the "BDA"---Browning Double-Action---bottom of grip magazine release, right? Good, solid pistols...

The roll marks on the slide should look like this....
