I took my new Cz SP-01 to the range today. All my first shots were also low using my standard sight picture where I cut the bullseye in half horizontally with the front blade. So I can confirm the stock sight picture is point of aim/point of impact. That means the front dot needs to completely cover the bullseye. It is like stock Sig sights.

This is not my preferred sight picture because you can't see the bullseye But I think this is the preferred sight system for combat applications.

The Cz ran great! The trigger isn't much to write home about especially DA, and the slack in SA is a bit much. But when you are shooting it, it isn't as bad as you would think from dry fire testing. I think maybe I am going to get the Czickness like I have the Signess...

Yeah ... shoot it first to get a baseline, and then go crazy after that.

I don't shoot cz's well and couldn't even reach the slide release without really adjusting my grip. And the trigger bothered my index finger. All in all I don't plan on buying one

CZ makes an extended slide release, extended mag release, and you can change the trigger to the older 85C trigger. It is rare to hear someone not being able to shoot CZs well.

I was actually surprised how bad I did. I also rented a 226 at the range on the same trip and didn't do very well with it either.

Next time I go I'll rent them both again and give it another go

CZ doesn't use the pie on a post sight picture like XD's, just a heads up.

If you're used to one trigger system, it might take some time getting used to another. I'm still getting used to my P220, but I'm used to my 1911s and CZ triggers and shoot them moderately well. Just takes some time.

Spends some quality time with it and you might come to love it!

Of all my pistols, my CZ-75 SA and SP-01 are probably the ones that are easiest to shoot well.

Op- there's something wrong with you. Your sp01 is revolting against you. It wants a better home, and infill feed it and love it more than you will. I'll be more than happy to show it some love.

Mike, its hard going from SA only flat trigger, to a curved trigger in SA; on a CZ. It just takes muscle memory and pull mechanics to make sure you are not anticipating recoil, or pulling the shot some how (too much finger, not equal grip with both hands and etc). I mentioned that because although I typically shoot solid with a CZ, it still surprises me if I get careless switching pistols.

Give it another go with the CZ and be patient, its one of the best guns out there for ergos, and typically the majority of people that first try it do better than other guns that they try. For instance I SUCK with a shield, but I know its my fault because I am not used to the trigger.

IF possible, bring a few snap caps to the range, and mix them in your magazine, it is a great way to see if you anticipate recoil or see some movement on your shots.

Good luck, take your time, be steady, and breathe nice and easy on the pull. Varying classes show different fundamentals, but here is a standard video that might help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysa50-plo48

As soon as I got it home, I field stripped it down, cleaned it and then installed the new sites. I couldn't wait to take it to the range!
When I finally got to take it to the range, I couldn't believe how bad I shot the CZ. Every shot was low, regardless of the distance of the target. When I say low, I mean approximately 4" low. Frustrated, I took out my XD and had no problem putting nice groups together where I wanted them. I'm not sure why I couldn't shoot the CZ. My thought is because of the long trigger travel, it's causing the nose to drop. I just installed all the goodies from CGW and am waiting for the new trigger to come in. I really hope that will turn things around for me. I know it's not the firearm, completely on me, just wondering why I sucked so bad shooting this thing?!?
My shots, as others have mentioned on the stock sights & the CZ custom sights for me need the front dot covering the spot I want to hit. I prefer it actually over the lollipop.

Thank you for the tip. I will absolutely give that a shot cause it does feel like a great pistol.

What sights did you install? The fixed rear and fiber optic front from CGW? If yes, it should give you POA/POI at 15 yards.
