    Conversion kit 1911 .22

I see alot of conversions kits for full size .45acp to .22lr. Can I convert a stock 1911 .22lr back to a .45acp by getting a .45 slide or its not possible because the frame is weaker on the stock .22lr?

Take it to a 1911 smith and ask.

What kind of .22 1911? Most of them can't be converted back, but there are a few that can.

For just a few more dollars, you can buy a Sig / ATI 1911-22 and have a fully functioning firearm. Yes, I had initial FTF / FTE issues with mine. I sent it back to Sig. Came back good to go. As others have stated, there are issues with conversion kits.

You should have bought the 45 and hot the 22 conversion.

I'm pretty sure the Sig can't be converted. The frame won't handle it.

                      Okay, so you're talking about trying to convert a SIG 22LR 1911 into a 45ACP 1911? Right?

No! Do not even think about it. Do not attempt trying to do that. You will severely damage and/or destroy your 22LR 1911 and more than likely injure yourself in the process. The same applies to GSG 22LR 1911s and Colt/Umarex 22LR 1911s.

The 22LR 1911s that I mentioned above have an aluminum frame that is not made to Colt 1911 Government specification and are no way near MILSPEC. They will not accept the parts for a 45ACP 1911. Furthermore, the frames are not capable of handling the force generated by a 45ACP. Do not try to do this conversion that you are speaking of. Please. Do yourself a favor. Do not attempt this. Go buy yourself an inexpensive 1911.

I have a GSG 1911-22 and there is a rib inside the mag well that will not allow a .45 magazine to be inserted. This is apparently there by design to prevent just what is being discussed from happening. Otherwise the dimensions are the same and the .45 mag would likely fit the mag well.
