I have problems with the 8 round mags in my 1911.
What appears to be happening to me is that the slide catches the next round and pushes the bullet downward, jamming it against the inside of the magazine well. I've polished the inside of the well until I was out of dremmel polishing wheels and I'm going to see how that works.
It only seems to do this when the magazine is full or nearly full and it occasionally feeds fine with a full magazine, if I already had a round in the pipe. So what I usually do is load up a 7 rounder, chamber 1 round and load a full 8 rounder. That usually works out okay...
Hollowpoints seem to have more jammings than military ball, in my situation...
