S&W model 34-1 worth?

I've got a pretty cool little 22LR revolver. It's a S&W 34-1 with a nickel finish and 4" barrel. This gun is pristine, it honestly looks like it's had less than 100 rounds put through it and stored away in the safe. Not a scratch on it. Only down side is it has no box. I've seen these things going for ridiculous prices on gunbroker and gunsamerica but what is this gun really worth? I'm not sure if I really want to sell it yet but just curious.

I have no idea, so can only go by COMPLETED listings on Gunbroker. Not what people are asking, but what people are paying.

Then add a little more for the "you can't have this in California" factor.

Like I said I don't plan on selling this one. But seeing them on gunbroker made me curiuos to the worth of it. How do you look at completed auctions on gunbroker?

I personally wouldn't pay it but $600-700 in CA? Haven't checked GB completed auctions in a while though. I just wait for deals but I'm always on the lookout. My 63 was NIB $300 about 2-3 years ago at a gun show. In last 16 years I have purchased 3 other kit guns for less than $400. My snub pre 34 was $375 this year but wrong grips.

A nice M34 in nickel is not very common. Like I Swan said, probably as high as $700. The challenge could be finding a buyer. I got interested in S&W kit guns a couple years ago, when my son started shooting with me. In good condition they start at about $500 in shops and on this site.

In my opinion, they almost seem underpriced, considering how infrequently they come up for sale. People don't tend to sell them, instead they keep them for their kids or grandkids.

the S&W pre-lock revolver continues to rise in market value everywhere, including models that are commonly found. this model is not so commonly found and i believe that at least $100.00 can be added to whatever price one would have drawn as little as seven or eight months ago in california.

Strangely, a nice 4" pre lock 63 sat at a recent gun show all day at $400. Owner got frustrated at the low ball offers and raised it to $500 for some reason. I convinced him to sell it at $400 again and I told a FFL I know about it and he bought it.

I'd of bought it but I already have one and had already bought a snub pre 34 that day. Still was tempting.

When I was a kid and go fishing with the neighbor kids, their dad had one. I always like them for plinking. All my children are grown so I really do not need a 22 caliber handgun. Otherwise you will have a PM inbound.

your logic makes sense. with some tenacity and patience, the deals can be brought home. the early bird gets the worm, as long as he knows it's a worm he's looking at.

They seem underpriced to me when you compare them to the garbage 22 pistols companies are putting out these days. Smith and Wesson put some workmanship into these little revolvers.
