Colt Combat Commander or Sig Sauer

Sig Sauer or Colt Combat Commander?
I was all set to buy a Sig Sauer when "the guy" showed me a Colt 45 Combat Commander-Alloy, single stack which I prefer. I shoot better with a narrow grip.
I never read or hear much about "New Colt Pistols."
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding which one they prefer?

What model SIG is it? The SIG P220 is chambered in .45 just like the Colt Commander, holds more rounds, is more reliable, and will probably last longer (though both will last for a long time). It's hard to argue with a good SIG. I should know - I own two!

The Sig P220 is more reliable IMO but the Combat Commander will be easier to carry.

That is a point that I failed to mention, and am very happy you brought that up. I also want night sights, is that possible?
I just moved to New Mexico.
Cash and carry out the door in less than 15 minutes.
My girlfriend and I are going to get cc Permits.
These guns are only for self defense.
Animals being the most prevalent. We really do live that far out.
The Colt seemed lighter and compact, plus the stainless steel.
The girlfriend is going to get some S&W 357/38 stainless steel 5 shot.
I want her to have a minimum barrel length of 3 inches, night sights, and or lazer-is there such a S&W?
I also would like a visible hammer on both handguns.

Sig 1911, they have both full sized and carry options. Have the 1911R stainless and love it. Narrow grip, night sights come stock, hammer like you want, and amazing triggers.

I vote colt, I love my commander. The sig would be sweet too, I say flip a coin.

Can't argue against a p series sig. On the other hand sig 1911's are quite questionable.too many reviews, first hand accounts and forum complaints for me. I can honestly say I haven't seen one colt not run out of the box

I have a Commander that was customized by King's Gunworks back in the 1970s. The only issue I ever had with it was in using my reloads soon after I started shooting it a lot - it has a very tight chamber and I need to use the Lee Factory Crimp die to ensure the reloaded rounds fit into the chamber. Factory ammo has never been an issue. I've shot this gun many thousands of rounds in competition, winning Class A in our small club for several years running. I don't know how anything could be more reliable than that. I do change the recoil spring every few thousand rounds. Nothing else has been replaced.

I don't like how Sigs sit in my hand - the bore is too high. My other favorite semi-auto pistols are the Hi-Power and the CZ 75. I have a couple friends who use P-220s in matches, and they have had feeding, etc problems with their Sigs. One went back to his 1911 and the other bought something else.

I vote a glock 10mm or maybe an XDS 45?... Single stack .45 that is super easy to conceal.

Being a hard core 1911 fan I vote 1911...Best bang for the buck out there is the loaded Springfield armory....I have 2 colts a blue steel government and a blue steel light weight commander which I carry almost everyday. I also have a stainless Springfield government loaded with night sights.

Once you shoot a 1911 it is hard to go to anything else for a smooth consistent trigger pull.

                          I prefer 1911's over Sigs.

Take a look at the S&W Model 60 Pro Series, SKU 178013.

How much "should" it cost for the Colt Combat Commander?"
Any thoughts on the S&W 38//357 revolver?"
                              Cost?
                              Any thoughts on holsters?
                              FYI
WE are not worried about anything where we moved to retire.
However, it is one hour to a hospital. A minimum of one hour law enforcement response, more depending on the weather. We purchased an Israeli First Aid Kit- I could probably do a C-section, or kidney transplant if necessary with this thing..
Great Volunteer fire Department-Navaho/Zuni 10 miles away with a full time Helo Pad.
I do not know if I am bragging or complaing.
Just help me pick out a couple of had guns.
In the end, reliability is the most important consideration.
As well as my girlfriend-60 years young; uses that S&W with confidence.
I signed her up for private lessons.
Teaching her myself may have worked out.
Been there done that. It is worth it- to me, for someone else to teach.
