Ruger Gp100 6"or 4"??

Which one do you recommend? Looking for accuracy and also does 6" look weird compared to 4"?

Accuracy is available on both 4" and 6". The 6" will be easier to shoot with full magnum loads. The longer sigh radius is also a plus in accuracy. Most people say the 6" is too long and becomes unwieldy in a defensive situation. For me I've always shot the 6" faster and more accurately. If one has to carry a revolver for duty or while outdoors the 4" has the advantage carrying it in any type of holster.

If accuracy is your only consideration, you may find you can aim better with the longer sight radius of the 6". If you plan to carry it in any capacity, then you may find the 4" more versatile as pointed out by JTROKS above. Both are nice. As far as looks, I like the shorter barreled versions; personal preference.

Have you considered the GP100 Match Champion? It's a nice factory tuned 4.2". Should be a real sweet shooter and comes with some nice features that differentiate it from the standard GP100.

There is a 5" version as well; off roster, but can be acquired via PPT or intrafamilial transfer if that's available to you.

I will not be carrying this pistol, it will be purely range gun.

My GP100 is a 4". My BIL has a GP100 in 6". It really comes down to personal preference. Find a way too shoot both before you buy.

I will personally choose function over appearance. IMHO, they both look good.

Like others have said it is personal preference. Mine is a 6 inch and I like it a lot. I find it to be well balanced and a smooth shooter. Whichever you choose, enjoy and post some pics when you get it.

As I recall, the 6 inch adds between 75 and 100 fps to the bullet. That could make shooting bulls eye a little easier.

The 6" is going to be more accurate, of course, but the 4" feels more accurately proportioned to me. 6" feels a little front-heavy, but that's most likely because I'm so used to the 4". Excellent weapon, either way.

What is the intended use?

4" is easier to carry without it getting in your way. Especially true if you are using a vehicle. For range shooting or hunting then I'd nod towards the 6".

I have the 6" gp100. It's super accurate. It is a beast of a gun. I really like the match champion. At normal handgun ranges, 15-25 yards, accuracy will be comparable. Beyond that the 6" will really shine. As for balance and shootability the 4" will be the better option.

Just buy one of each!!

Had a 6, traded for a 4.

Was easier to handle and shoot over longer periods of time.

You need at least an 18" barrel on all your handguns for maximum accuracy and lethality

No one can tell you which is better 4" or 6" GP100, it is purely personal preference. 6" in theory will be more accurate due to sight radius, but IRL, the individual gun and shooter has more to do with accuracy, then 2" barrel difference.
I have Dan Wesson with 8" barrel and it balances just fine, I will also buy GP100 Match Champion with adj. sights, because I like them.
The only one who can say which barrel will work for you is you.
