Anyone have any thoughts on the model 627 V-Comp.

Big heavy 8 shot .357 with a really good trigger. If you like revolvers and don't mind the weight, what's not to like?

I have the standard 627 with 5" barrel, not the V-Comp. I like it for the more classic look. An outstanding gun!

I really like it it is a little heavier than the carry type guns. but very well balanced a fun gun to shoot ,accurate with all ammo but I think is'd get the 9mm version now. cheaper to feed.I put Hogue wood fingergrip stocks on it. the action is so light I need to use federal primers in it ,though that is fixable a.overall very happy with it.

I have the standard PC 627 (no comp) and it is a pretty good gun after I fixed all the defects it came with so I could shoot it. The only major problem with all of PC products is the abysmal quality control they have.

I have both the .44 V-Comp (4" barrel/6-rounds) and the .357 V-Comp (5" barrel/8-rounds). They are really outstanding. The compensators (and the added mass of the full lug) makes them very soft shooting and the PC triggers, out of the box are very good. I purchased the .357 as a used gun and it had been worked on by a quality gunsmith so I sent the .44 to the same place. The work made them even better.
I couldn't recommend them more strongly.

Painting with a pretty broad brush there, all PC's?
Sorry you had trouble with yours. The one I purchased has no issues. A friend of mine that has several, has no issues.

The brush was manufactured by SW not me. For many years I spent "spare" time between rounds at our Monday night league checking revos for possible buy... and showing the defects to the people who worked there. Many PC guns had problems, but quality has taken a nosedive recently so it's worse.

I honestly don't care if anybody pays attention, just posting the facts. Have no idea if they are worse than others, but they are bad.

And just to be clear, what I said was:

Yes, the problem applies to ALL of the PC products, but not necessarily all will have defects. The point is that lack of QC doesn't guarantee every unit will be defective, it just means the ones with defects will likely not be caught.

The point is many people still have the delusion that the PC guns are "hand crafted" and have better triggers and better quality than the standard fare.

Personally I would skip the v comp for the 357. It is already a heavy gun. Adding all the barrel weight and comp for a medium power cartridge just isn't needed.

Funny. That should be the norm, not the exception.

Here's the picture of the trigger strut that came on my new 627. Use your imagination about what that sharp end did to the rebound slide. Replacing those was just the start, the barrel was also on twisted (most new SW are) but the breech face to cylinder clearance was so low that it would jam after firing a few rounds. Nothing like buying a new $1300 gun that needs a bunch of gunsmithing just to fire a full cylinder of rounds.

And, YES that trigger lever is MIM junk for those who may believe the myth that the PC guns don't have MIM parts.
