    9mm Ruger LCR question

A while back (maybe 6 weeks?) somebody posted a thread about ruger's 9mm LCR being added to the roster.

Somewhat surprisingly it seemed a LOT of people were very interested in purchasing.

Well, its been long enough at this point for some of you to have made that purchase and taken your new LCRs out for a spin.

Can the new (or old) owners comment on it?

I had heard that at least with the 357 model (which the 9mm seems based on) can sometimes have trouble clearing cases due to the cases being long and the plunger being short. I would think that 9mm cases are shorter and with the moon-clip, might not have this problem? True, or false?

Its on my short list of being my first pistol purchase. Looking for some feedback. The only pistols I've previously shot were a kimber 45 (nice!) and a Sigg P226 (meh). So I don't have much experience, talk to me like I'm ignorant, because I am!

I don't regret buying it. Its a nice pocket gun. Small, light, easy.
I would not think of it as a goto range gun, but as self defense gun.

I shot standard 115 gr ball and had no problems with clips, and without.
I shot some hollow points and did have some extraction problems, with and without clips. I think it was the ammo, not the gun. All the ammo I used was factory reloads.

I personally like autos for the range, and this revolver for self defense home gun.
Its in 9mm and can be used with and without clips, very cool.

I love mine...It is cheaper to shoot than my 642 and it is not as hard on the hand as the 642. You have to find the moon clips. Ruger did not have them in stock for a while. I ended up buying the moon clips from CTD. (I know flame me)

Ive had mine for a little bit now. It shoots pretty accurate, recoil isnt bad at all, and I had no issues with removing empties both with and without moonclips. I shot new factory ammo(250 rounds) from a few manufacturers and new JHPs as well (100 rounds)

No problems with mine. If I could list more than three pistols on my permit, I'd carry it sometimes. Unless you want a carry pistol you might wait and see if they do a 3" or 4" version with hammer.

No problems Here. Used fmj 115 gr and HST 147 gr. I've only used moon clips. A lot of reasons to get it, especially if you already shoot 9mm. As a first handgun, there are better options However.

That seems weird that the hollowpoints ammo gave you ejection problems.monce the rounds are fired, isn't just a clip full of empty brass remaining? Regardless of the bullets they fired?

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

It might be that one type of ammo is loaded hotter than the others and the cases expanded more. That leaves a more snug fit and the extraction must be straight out. Any sideways force will cause the cases to slightly hang up in the cylinder.

The LCR9 is my first ever pocket revolver.
I've only had a chance to put 30rnds through mine so far, Win 115grn RN in the moon clips - no problems.
The only thing I noticed was during dry firing is that the trigger hurts my finger, it is like the curve is too sharp and it bears on the bottom side instead of the pad.
I changed to centering the trigger in the first joint and it has been fine, my accuracy with the laser trainer doesn't seem to have been affected by the change.

I have had mine for a couple months or so, and love it.. recoil is easy. trigger is light and smooth as well..

I so far find no fault with it..and its more accurate than I thought it might be..

so I would recommend one in a heart beat
