    Flat 1911 Triggers

Thinking of a flat 1911 trigger and I'd like to know what options are out there:

So far I see 10-8, Caspian, Infinity/SVI, and Wilson Combat. Or perhaps I could just file down the face of my trigger now to what I wanted (I only need the bottom part flattened).

I've tried the 10-8 before and it was a bit too long for me. Supposedly the Caspian is even longer. However, I'm not sure if they can be shortened w/o causing mechanical issues.

My concerns with the Infinity is the fact that the front of the triggers are friction fit into the rear to set desired length and the fact that they're very skeletonized. Wondering if this would cause parts to work loose if I don't pay constant attention or if perhaps something could get caught inside, etc. I couldn't find much info about the Wilson ones.

I just found out about a shorter flat trigger from chambers customs:

Learned about it from this post:

So I've got my sites set on a 10-8 flat trigger. One question though, any reason they stopped making the shorter triggers? If I'm going to swap out my stock trigger (DW Specialist) I'd like to go shorter. It's the solid no frills design of the 10-8 for duty use that attracts me to it. Anything...

      Infinity triggers are top tier.
I have shot 10,000's of rounds with them and have had no issues.
I have seen over a million rounds fired with them through various firearms and have never heard of any issues.
The friction fit is tight enough that they do not move.

I've never gone to the dark side. How comfortable is the flat trigger?

Do you happen to know how wide the Chambers trigger is or if it's lightened inside or not? If not I'll have to ask the manufacturer next week and will share here.

And good to know about the Infinity triggers.

Looks like I'll buy based on the answers I get or I may just try both and sell the one that doesn't work as well for me.

As for a flat trigger being comfortable, comfort for me depends on the surface face of the trigger (the texture and shape). I do find the curve to be comfortable but based on my experience, I have some pretty strong suspicions that a flat trigger will make it easier for me to shoot more consistently (in b4 lern 2 gunz).

EGW also makes a semi-flat trigger face.

Yes, something to consider on the 3 listed is the face texture. The Infinity is completely smooth, 10-8 is a bead blasted texture, and the Caspian is a deep vertical serration.
Also the 10-8 has no adjustments (pre nor over-travel) ready. The Caspian has over-travel only ready. Infinity is pre-travel and over-travel adjustment all ready to go.

Also agree on the Infinity, I am confident it will not come loose.

Too bad 10-8 does not make the short flat anymore, but I do not see much of an issue if you sand down the length to your comfort.

10-8 has a serrated face and a bead-blasted finish. It also has an overtravel stop that is filed to the correct length (not a screw).

The Wilson has adjustable "wings" right at the back of the trigger shoe beloiw the bow that allows for pre-travel adjustment as well. Overtravel is taken care of with a screw.

I have both, but can't speak to the other brands. The Wilson definitely has little to no movement as far as up/down and side to side play goes.

If I was swapping a trigger, Infinity would be my first choice. Especially if you're wanting to try a flat trigger. It will be super simple to switch if it turns out you don't like it. They're supposed to be excellent and I've never heard of anyone having problems with them.

looks like i'll be going infinity based on feedback here and elsewhere + the wide range of options available and either egw or chambers once i figure out what the trigger face is on each one. still can't find that much info on the wilson...

funny thing is i find flat triggers to be better looking in most pistols, but somehow think they're about one of if not the ugliest common mod for a 1911. yet, here i am, looking for flat 1911 triggers while no other pistol i have has a flat trigger...

Sounds like you've made your choice. But just to throw more options at you, Cylinder & Slide also makes really nice triggers with both length and shape options. EGW trigger face is what they call their "tanktread" texture, and is only in a long version if I remember correctly.

^thanks. their flat trigger (only 1 length) is a bit too long for me though.

finally found some good detailed pictures of the trigger face for the egw, chambers, and wilson. looks like i'm actually going with wilson + infinity.

1 thing that has surprised me in all of this - with how popular flat triggers seem to be from looking online, there don't seem to be that many options.
