Went to the range and decided to rent one of thses. sweetest shooting gun i ever shot compared to my glocks and cz's. However, the one i shot started to have some slight problems. The slide started hanging up and locking half way open, a couple light primer strikes, failure to feed, falure to extract. All sorts of fun things after about 85 rds. Anyone else have probelms with them? Id like to get a 45 before i leave on vacation in 3 weeks but never had much experience with anything except 1911's, which in not too intrested in.

i currently own only one firearm chambered in .45ACP, and that's a P220. pick up one of these in confidence. and, now that gudel is no longer around, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone with something negative to say about it.Comment

I have a P220ST. Between my brother (the previous owner) and I, we have 2,000 - 3,000 rounds with no failures. I keep my pistol clean and well oiled for heavy shooting days. I also feed it a steady suppy of quality ammo (WWB, UMC, American Eagle, Fiocchi), but haven't had any issue with Wolf. I don't dare put reloads into my pistol (#1, because I don't reload and #2, the reloads that I've seen haven't been of the best quality).
Here is a decent article about a 10,000 round torture test run with the SIG P220.Comment

sounds like a gun maintenance/ammo problem. Sig 220 are known for their reliability if maintained well. It seems true that rentals tend to be "more abused" with cheaper reloads, etc."Good friends, good food & good wine. Anything else is just a waste of soy sauce.":)Comment

It was firing line in so cal. They have always done good maintance on their rentals. The gun was clean when i got it. So i doubt that it being dirty was the probelm. Well now it look like i have to save some money to get one, unless someone would like to buy my sister. Shipping from germany not included.Comment

Sig P220 reliability: A++
Love my 220. I've actually never had a single jam of any type in 5000+ rounds. My Dad's 220 is now older than time, and I've only seen it jam once, on some crappy ammo.Comment

most of the rentals get abused like a mother more than anything else. Even if they are kept immaculate (sp?) they will wear down and have issues. Think about it, we can put 20,000 rounds thru a gun in a year easily. That's a lot of wear on the guns. My personal 220 has never had a problem along with most of my other guns, but rentals can and do break wear all the time due to the high round count. We actually have a Glock 35 that needs to go back soon because the barrel is worn out. Only got the damn thing a year and a half ago, thats a huge number of rounds.NRA - Life Member

Sig P220 is the greatest .45 ever. I had a used one that supposedly had 10k rounds through it and it shoots just as straight as my current P220 that has less then 500 rounds through her. Only reason I got rid of the used one cause I am trying to limit the firearms I own and for the fact that the 10k one looked worn.
Here is my Sig P220 with it's little brother the P229
