Longevity of Sig P320 fire control unit

I know how to take down and clean my guns effectively, but I'm definitely no master armorer. I was looking over my Sig P320 and wondering if the fire control unit part of the gun is susceptible at all to wear.

If you buy a caliber exchange, you get the slide, barrel, guide rod, spring, grip module and magazine. Those are all parts that could potentially wear out, but you can just replace them with a new kit. I suppose the take down lever could wear out, but it is removable and probably not super expensive.

The slide rides on the frame, but is held in place by the fire control unit. This seems to be the only place that might wear out over time as you shoot the gun. Basically, the fire control unit is the only part of the gun designed not to be replaced. Do you guys see any reason why this part shouldn't last an extremely long time?

I am sure it is subject to wear but have you ever worn down a pistol? Esp a fcg?

I have a glock 19 with over 15k rounds (maybe even 20k i stopped counting at 15k) fcg still works.

    Should be a non issue

I'm a P320 owner, and I have no reason to believe it will wear out any time soon. In semi-auto pistols, the things that wear out are usually the springs, barrels, and sometimes the slide. I can't say with certainty, but I'd bet the fire control unit will last well over 100,000 rounds (at least). I also registered it with SIG, so I can send it back for repairs if it I needed to.

I'm not really worried about wearing out any firearm though.

The longevity likely will be limited by the rails, similar to a Glock. I've heard that the Glock museum has an early G17 with a reported 347,000 rounds.

That probably is on the high side. With proper lubrication of the rails at factory ammo pressures it would surprise me if a P320 fire control module lasts less then 100k rounds. You'll replace all the springs many times and probably go through at least 3 barrels to get to 100k

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me about a gun that they've worn out.

I'm trying to with some of mine, but sadly won't accomplish it.
